Dr. Michelle Takes is a Licensed Mental Health counselor. She graduated with her Doctorate in Counseling Education and Supervision. Michelle has a Master of Science in Human Services with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling. She has been practicing family, couples, and individual psychotherapy for over 14 years. Over the last decade she has become certified in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and has training in prolonged exposure therapy, she has also been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and is working toward certification in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) she also has specialized experience working with eating disorders.
Michelle’s therapeutic approach utilizes cognitive behavioral, and solution focused therapeutic techniques. She is skilled in treating a wide range of disorders including but not limited to anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, adjustment disorders, bipolar disorder and post-partum depression. Michelle can work with a wide range of ages from young children and adolescents to adults.
Michelle has a solid background working in crisis and acute care settings. With a background as an Emergency Medical Technician and a former Marine, Michelle has a comprehensive understanding of trauma and stress related conditions.
As a therapist, mom, wife, and business owner she is forced to practice what she teaches. Learning to balance life stressors with positive experiences and take a few deep breaths. She enjoys taking time to stop and smell the roses in her garden. To unwind and build her own positive experiences Michelle enjoys boating with her family, running on her treadmill, cooking, working in her yard, tent camping and chilling by the campfire.
